Synopsis

Sultan Mahmood Mangkat Di-julang is a 17 th century historical drama drawn from Malay folklore. Admiral Megat Sri Rama returns home triumphant after defeating a band of pirates and rescuing Wan Anum, whom he later marries. His victories, however, stir jealousy and resentment within the kingdom. When the admiral is sent on another expedition against sea pirates, the pregnant Wan Anum is left vulnerable to political intrigue and danger.

Featuring a stellar ensemble from the Cathay-Keris studio, the film is considered one of the studio’s finest historical dramas from the golden age of Malay cinema in the 1950s and 1960s. It also features Maria Menado in one of her most prominent surviving dramatic roles.
