Bravery Through Toys: Remembering the Battle of Singapore

At the heart of this guided tour is a rare highlight from the Museum's Second World War collection: collectable figurines of Sikh soldiers who served valiantly as part of the Allied Defence Forces. These miniature representations honour their bravery and vital contribution to defending Singapore during the battle, offering visitors a unique and thought-provoking perspective on wartime history.

Beyond the Battle of Singapore, the tour explores how toys were used across nations to normalise war, encourage war efforts, and celebrate military achievements among both the Allied Forces (Britain, France, USSR & USA) and Axis Powers (Germany, Italy & Japan). Visitors will encounter propaganda toys, iconic war heroes, and detailed models of fighter planes and battleships that reveal the cultural and historical impact of the Second World War.

The experience concludes with an interactive trivia session uncovering hidden facts and surprising strategies used by both sides during the war.
