About this event

An immersive cultural workshop that explores the rich tapestry of Peranakan identity through the art of batik painting. Participants will discover how batik—long associated with the Malay world—was adopted, adapted, and elevated by the Peranakan Chinese community into an art form reflecting both heritage and hybridity. Participants will learn about Peranakan batiks from Pekalongan, renowned in the 19th and early 20th centuries for its exquisitely hand-drawn batiks tailored specifically to the tastes of wealthy Nyonyas
