Procreate & Patterns: Mindful Peranakan Tile Illustration

"Procreate & Patterns: Mindful Peranakan Tile Illustration" is a beginner-friendly digital illustration class designed for adult learners and hobbyists with little to no prior experience in digital art.

This entry-level program provides a welcoming, step-by-step introduction to drawing on the iPad, using the beautiful and structured world of traditional Peranakan tiles as an artistic canvas.

Under the patient guidance of lead instructor, beginners will first decode complex historical patterns by breaking them down into basic geometric shapes. They will then digitalize these concepts by learning the absolute fundamentals of the Procreate app from scratch.

Using radial symmetry guides, learners recreate the mathematical precision of early Peranakan craftsmen without fear of the blank page. They explore a curated palette of traditional Nyonya ware hues, tracing how these colours evolved in Singapore's cross-cultural art scene. Participants finish with the confidence to create and export their own clean digital tile illustration.
