About it

What is longing, if not a form of translation? The same yearning, felt across languages.

Inspired by The Colour of Twilight by Cultural Medallion recipient Yeng Pway Ngon, ‘Talking to Twilight’ extends the story of Ming Wai’s longing for his late wife, Hwee Ying, and now imagines Hwee Ying returning to the places the couple once shared, as she quietly watches over the life he continues to live.

What would she say to him if she could witness his longing?

Blending text, dance and live music, ‘Talking to Twilight’ presents the same monologue in Mandarin, English and Cantonese. Between languages, bodies and sound, longing returns to us like twilight each evening, yet each time, a different hue.\

Presented by SCCC and produced by SWF.
