About it
Dates: 23 & 24 Jan 2027 | 12 - 6pm. Cosmic Garden was an original Butoh creation directed by Japanese Butoh dancer and choreographer Agatsuma Emiko, developed in collaboration with Singapore Butoh Collective and presented as part of the Comma Creative Arts Festival 2026 in Singapore.
For 2027, we have developed the project into Cosmic Garden: Bodies by the Sea. This new chapter asks: How are our bodies connected to the sea today? Where does the fish we eat come from? And what happens when that connection fades?
Through fieldwork and Butoh-based practice, Agatsuma Emiko, alongside Shioya Tomoshi, will work with participants to transform these sensory discoveries into a new performance—one that brings the invisible tides of urban life to the stage.
