WORKSHOP OVERVIEW This hands-on session reimagines iconic Peranakan tiles through a tactile twist – participants will create their own relief-style art pieces on either canvas or ceramic tiles, using air-dry clay and puffy paint to replicate the intricate, raised patterns of traditional Peranakan craftsmanship. The workshop explores the cultural significance of Peranakan tile motifs while teaching practical techniques for building texture and layering vibrant, heritage-inspired colors.

Materials Provided: Choice of 30cm x 40cm / 15cm x 15cm canvas or ceramic tile base Air-dry clay, puffy paint sets (heritage color palette), sculpting tools Reference guides of classic Peranakan tile motifs Protective aprons and work surfaces

WORKSHOP FLOW Introduction : Overview of Peranakan tile culture and showcase of finished pieces. Design Planning : Participants select base and design, with guidance on motifs and colors. Clay Relief Creation : Sculpt clay motifs on base; allow drying or curing. Painting & Detailing: Apply acrylics and puffy paint for bold, textured finish. Finishing & Sharing: Seal or air-dry completed pieces.
