About it
Before the intrusion of container ships and yachts, a long strip of sand called Pasir Panjang was home to a people who called the sea their own. Firdaus Sani, founder of Orang Laut SG, welcomes you into the world of Singapore's Orang Laut and Orang Pulau community, where vanishing shorelines meet living memory. This coastal walk blends oral storytelling with lived experience, weaving tales from the Southern Islands alongside artist, storyteller and Pulau Sudong descendant Asnida Daud (14 Nov) or the author of Ombak Selatan [Southern Waves], Jamal Ismail (21 Nov).
Join us at West Coast Park for a walk and a shared meal prepared by the Orang Laut and Orang Pulau community. Together, we’ll uncover hidden histories and add our own words to a story still being written.
