Singapore, get ready to moonwalk back to 1992. MJ The Michael Jackson Musical , the four-time Tony Award-winning production about the King of Pop, is heading to Marina Bay Sands for a limited run from August 2027.
The musical will take over the Sands Theatre, bringing more than 25 Michael Jackson hits to the stage, including ‘Beat It’, ‘Smooth Criminal’, ‘Man in the Mirror’ and, naturally, 'Thriller’.
Rather than simply running through Jackson’s greatest hits, the musical will zoom audiences back to 1992, following the pop star as he prepares for his Dangerous World Tour. It goes inside the rehearsal room, where an MTV journalist gets unusual access to the process behind the spectacle, offering a look at how Jackson turned his ideas into one of the most ambitious tours of his career.

Directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon OBE, the production has already racked up four Tony Awards, including Best Choreography. It has also made its way through Broadway, London’s West End, Hamburg, the US and Australia, with more than eight million people having seen the show worldwide.
There’s also a Singapore-specific bit of history attached to its arrival. Jackson performed two sold-out concerts here during his Dangerous World Tour in 1993, so nearly 35 years later, the musical returns to the city with that same era at its centre.
