About this event

Runaway: Songs & Stories is an original music concert by Singaporean composer and pianist Peng Chi Sheng, presenting a collection of works written across more than two decades of his creative journey.

Featuring piano solos, original songs, chamber collaborations, and personal storytelling, the concert traces the evolution of a composer whose music has been shaped by memories, friendships, dreams, and life experiences accumulated over the years. Audiences will be invited into a deeply personal musical diary, discovering the stories behind the compositions and the inspirations that brought them to life.

A key highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of five newly composed piano works written specifically for this concert. These new compositions represent the latest chapter in Chi Sheng's artistic development and will be performed publicly for the first time. Alongside these premieres will be selected works from his "Runaway Pianist" catalogue and original songs written over the past decade and beyond.

Joining Chi Sheng on stage are guest artists Aaron Matthew Lim (vocals), Tony Dong (violin), and Robert Wesley Seng (vocals/keyboards), who will collaborate on specially curated performances of original compositions and arrangements created for the concert.

Running approximately 90 to 100 minutes, the programme blends contemporary classical music, songwriting, chamber performance, and narrative storytelling. More than a recital, Runaway is a celebration of original Singaporean music-making and a reflection on how music preserves memories, shapes identities, and connects people across different stages of life.

The concert aims to foster greater appreciation for original local compositions while showcasing the richness and diversity of Singapore's independent music community through collaboration between composers, performers, educators, and creators.
